Abstract

Microteaching offers pre-service teachers the opportunity to learn teaching skills, learn to teach on their own, and learn to understand others. Microteaching has been described as a "scaled-down" classroom situation, involving 3 to 10 teacher education students in 5 to 20 minute lessons. Four main skill areas should be included in a micro-learning program: (1) questioning skills, including fluency in questioning, high-level questions, and divergent; (2) skills aimed at increasing individual student participation; (3) creates student interaction through set induction, stimulating variation, and closure, all of which help provide meaningful organization for learning; and (4) lesson presentation skills and methodology.
